War Games
In this expansive introduction to wargaming, find out how games — from tabletop battlefields to digital simulations — have been used to train military personnel.
In collaboration with the Canadian War Museum, and our partners at Forge Media + Design, Knockabout Media produced all audiovisual content for the museum’s dynamic War Games exhibit.
Seen by over 140,000 visitors, the exhibit explores the deep historical roots and modern evolution of wargaming. From ancient strategy exercises to contemporary digital simulations, war games have long shaped military thinking and public imagination. The War Games exhibit draws connections between real-world conflicts and the games we play, such as chess and multiplayer shooters. Visitors encounter diverse voices — from veterans to game designers — reflecting on these links. Ultimately, the exhibit challenges viewers to consider how games reflect, and sometimes distort, our understanding of war.
